What Music to choose?
What Music to choose?
For Deaf people, selecting songs may be more challenging if they haven’t had much exposure to music. To help, we’ve put together a list of ten popular funeral songs often chosen for their emotional meaning and significance. Whether you prefer something traditional, uplifting, or deeply personal, these songs are commonly played at funerals to reflect love, remembrance, and farewell.
Typically, a funeral will include three to four pieces of music at different stages:
Entry Music– A song played as people enter and take their seats.
Reflection Music – A piece played during a moment of reflection, often when people are thinking about the person who has passed.
Exit Music– A final song played as attendees leave the service.
Additional Music (Optional) – Some services include an extra song, such as during a slideshow of photos or a special moment of remembrance.
Here are ten examples of funeral music:
Time to Say Goodbye- Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman
Somewhere Over the Rainbow– Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
Wind Beneath My Wings – Bette Midler
Angels– Robbie Williams
You Raise Me Up– Westlife
Tears in Heaven– Eric Clapton
My Heart Will Go On– Celine Dion
Supermarket Flowers– Ed Sheeran
Unforgettable– Nat King Cole
Always on My Mind– Elvis Presley
These songs are often chosen to honour and remember loved ones, offering comfort to family and friends during the service.
